TIP OF THE MONTH
ABOUT WARM-UPS
When it comes to warm-ups, A LOT of girls just go through the motions. Here's the irony though...the point of Warm-Ups is not just to get warm. They should call it something different like Execution-Time, Focus-Session or Psych-Ups. So aside from getting warm, what is the point of warm-ups?
1. Focus: Get mentally prepared for the game.
2. Execute: No matter where you find yourself ball handling (i.e. practice, games, backyard with sister), ALWAYS work on technique and fundamentals. Don't be lazy or you'll inadvertently drive in some bad habits that carry over to game time.
3. Intensity: Don't just go through the motions - push yourself and actually break a sweat! If you're going to pepper, pepper hard. If you're going to serve, serve tough. You get the idea.
4. Psych-up: Get amped up and celebrate/communicate loudly with your teammates.
5. Psych-out: If your focused, executing well, intense and loud - it can be intimidating for the other team. Warm-ups are a great time to psych-out the competition before you even start the game.
